Well no ice on New Years this year, a friendly race up the Severn River to Little Round Bay, around the island and back to the finish just past the Rt. 50 bridge. It was Ian doing pit, his first outing since his hip surgery, Mike at the helm and myself on foredeck. A decent day as January 1 goes, 50 degrees light breeze around 6-8 mostly from the south but huge shifts and later in the day gusts to 15 or so. It was a spinnaker start, we stayed right all the way till we caught up with the Solings that started 5 minutes ahead of us, then the beat back. We started out in the lead but one boat got way ahead so we were fighting for 2nd, at the end we tacked too soon and the other boat beat us to the finish by a second or 2. A great day to get out on the water.
